Marius Buga, a 42-year-old correspondent for PRO TV in Târgoviște, has been in pretrial detention since February 8th. The Dâmboviţa Tribunal has definitively rejected Buga’s appeal against the decision to detain him made by the Târgovişte Court. He is being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Târgovişte Court for allegedly engaging in repeated sexual relations with a minor who was under 16 years old. According to prosecutors, the acts took place between the summer of 2021 and February 5th, 2023. Buga is accused of engaging in oral and anal sex with the minor, knowing that the victim was under 16 years old and taking advantage of their vulnerable situation as an institutionalized child in a foster home without material and emotional support from their parents, as stated in a press release from the Prosecutor’s Office. Following the revelation of Buga’s actions, PRO TV announced the suspension of his employment contract. In an unexpected move, Buga has switched from television to radio, according to Playtech.ro.
